This iconic photograph captures Carmen Alvarez enjoying a game of backgammon with Frank 'Brandy' Brandstetter in a swimming pool at Acapulco in 1978. The image epitomizes the sophisticated leisure culture that defined Acapulco's golden age as Mexico's premier international resort destination during the late 1970s. Depicting a Hollywood actress and a hotelier moonlighting as a US intelligence officer enjoying a game of backgammon in a pool in Mexico, 'Keep Your Cool' is undeniably Aarons at his finest. This photograph captures the essence of tropical glamour at its most inventive, where the traditional parlor game of backgammon becomes an aquatic adventure in paradise. The scene represents the perfect fusion of sophistication and whimsy that characterized Acapulco's appeal to international jet-setters who appreciated both luxury and playfulness. This image embodies the carefree spirit and creative approach to leisure that made Acapulco a beloved escape for celebrities and socialites who sought unique experiences in settings of unparalleled natural beauty and refined hospitality. Slim Aarons, renowned for his evocative photographs of, as he described it, "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," was the quintessential chronicler of high society. After serving as a war photographer, Aarons turned his lens to a new landscape: the glamorous lives of Hollywood elites, Palm Beach socialites, and jet-setting debutantes and princes. His work for society publications captured an aspirational world of leisure and luxury that defined the American upper class throughout the mid-20th century, creating images that remain timeless symbols of sophistication and style. Every piece in our unique Slim Aarons collection is meticulously handcrafted using archival materials and printed on premium, luster photographic paper with environmentally safe inks, custom framed by skilled artisans who ensure that each work of art meets the exacting standards befitting such an iconic photograph.

This vibrant photograph, "Keep Your Cool", from January 1978 captures Carmen Alvarez and Frank "Brandy" Brandstetter immersed in a leisurely game of backgammon while seated in the cool waters of an Acapulco swimming pool. The scene perfectly encapsulates the laid-back glamour and playful sophistication of the late 1970s, when luxury vacations blended relaxation with social interaction in exquisite settings. Acapulco, long a magnet for international jet-setters and Hollywood elites, provided the ideal backdrop for such moments of intimate leisure amid sun-soaked, tropical splendor. This image reflects an era when casual elegance and indulgent pastimes were celebrated as part of a cultivated lifestyle. The photograph is presented as a high-resolution scan of the photo's original photographic slide, complete with hand-lettered archival notations along the mount. Offered exclusively by Soicher Marin, this edition preserves the full character of the original format, transforming it into a striking piece of wall art that merges history, authenticity, and timeless style. Austin Beiv grew up on the tough streets of Brooklyn, where the expression of oneself was usually done through wall tagging—or as they say in Italian, "graffito." He was influenced by many different artists, particularly Fernando Carlo, who was well known for his expressive graffiti. That childhood influence is where the edge and contemporary look of his art pieces come from. After graduating from Pratt Institute in the early ’90s, he now travels all over America looking for inspiration, whether it’s a tagged wall or an art museum. Austin loves to embrace all the unique and expressive simplicities life offers.

This enchanting photograph captures the quintessential Alpine après-ski experience at the Ice Bar of Hotel Krone in Lech, Austria, on January 1, 1960. The image shows a bartender expertly mixing drinks for elegant guests against the breathtaking backdrop of the Omershorn mountain, epitomizing the sophisticated winter leisure culture that defined Europe's most exclusive ski destinations during the golden age of Alpine tourism. Hotel Krone, first mentioned in historical records in 1741 as a travelers' rest stop, had evolved by 1960 into one of Austria's most prestigious luxury hotels, run by the Pfefferkorn family for multiple generations. Lech itself represented the pinnacle of Alpine glamour, attracting aristocrats, celebrities, and discerning international travelers to its pristine slopes and refined hospitality. The resort's combination of exceptional skiing, luxurious accommodations, and sophisticated social atmosphere made it a favorite winter retreat for Europe's elite, establishing it as Austria's answer to the world's most glamorous mountain destinations. Chris Dunker has photographed industrial culture for over two decades. His Father introduced photography to Chris at an early age. Chris attended Al Weber Workshops and classes at the community college where Chris’s Father taught photography. Dunker earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Art and Design with a photography concentration and a minor in Philosophy from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. In 1995 he completed a Masters of Fine Arts in photography from Utah State University. Chris grew up in China Lake, California which is in the isolated and remote high desert east of the Sierras. This austere and harsh environment is punctuated with mining outposts, rock art, and industrial-military structures, all influences of Dunker’s formative years. A strong interest in industrial music and performance groups like Survival Research Laboratories expanded his understanding of how industrial dynamics could be integrated into art forms and how an aesthetic could be derived from objects of utility. As an Assistant Professor of Photography at Utah State University, Dunker taught History of Photography and many other classes. Research in this field broadened his awareness of how photographers consider the role of industrial culture in relation to the human condition.
