This iconic photograph captures Carmen Alvarez enjoying a game of backgammon with Frank 'Brandy' Brandstetter in a swimming pool at Acapulco in 1978. The image epitomizes the sophisticated leisure culture that defined Acapulco's golden age as Mexico's premier international resort destination during the late 1970s. This photograph captures the essence of tropical glamour at its most inventive, where the traditional parlor game of backgammon becomes an aquatic adventure in paradise. The scene represents the perfect fusion of sophistication and whimsy that characterized Acapulco's appeal to international jet-setters who appreciated both luxury and playfulness. Slim Aarons, renowned for his evocative photographs of, as he described it, "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," was the quintessential chronicler of high society. After serving as a war photographer, Aarons turned his lens to a new landscape: the glamorous lives of Hollywood elites, Palm Beach socialites, and jet-setting debutantes and princes. His work for society publications captured an aspirational world of leisure and luxury that defined the American upper class throughout the mid-20th century, creating images that remain timeless symbols of sophistication and style. Buying some of Dana Gibson’s work is an ideal way to brighten up – literally – your home and make it into something truly unique and personal. From giclee prints to cushions to light sconces to desk accessories, and so much more besides, you can start your Dana Gibson collection in any room of the house, and grow it from there. It is the color palette that is going to draw you in first, and the gorgeous designs will burst to life as you look closer. This very artist-centric technique will help you to choose the ideal piece or pieces for your home, and any guests and visitors you have will enjoy spending some time dissecting each thing, searching for different pieces of interior design, and generally falling in love with your home, just as you will when you install some art by Dana Gibson. The interior of your home has a direct impact on the rest of your life. Finally, you’ll have plenty of choices if you’re buying a piece of art created by Dana Gibson. Show off your personality while making an impactful statement to your décor with these stunning museum-quality art pieces. Each piece is printed in ultra-high resolution on your choice of premium ultra-HD metallic photo paper back-mounted under transparent acrylic glass or a high-definition print directly on high-quality diamond pearl white aluminum. Both results are a completely realistic ultra-HD photo print that has vivid colors, bold contrasts, is UV protected, and is halftone-free. All pieces are backed with aluminum framing which creates a floating effect and comes ready to hang. Differences between acrylic and aluminum: the first thing to note is that you can’t go wrong with either medium! In general, the aluminum/ metal prints have a matte finish in comparison to the acrylic gloss finish. The optical transparent acrylic glass enhances the effect of depth and brings out the metallic UltraHD photo print’s exact contours and details for a stunning 3d effect. Because the image is printed using metallic UltraHD photo paper, this format will give you sharper lines and edges at higher resolutions. There is a reflective property with acrylic which light refracts through the acrylic glass, giving your photos substance and depth, as well as superb image quality from edge to edge. Also notable is that all our acrylic art piece’s edges are hand diamond polished to capture the surrounding light. Hd metal: on the metal pieces the image is printed/infused directly on diamond pearl white aluminum. The diamond-pearl aluminum creates a stunning shimmer with a satin seen enhancing reflective properties of the image. Images appear crisp and are very visible in brightly light areas while maintaining an overall metallic sheen. All our metal prints are made of weather-resistant material, exhibiting impressive color intensity using UV color-protected technology. This makes it suitable for covered outdoor areas or bathrooms and comes ready to hang.
