This iconic photograph captures Carmen Alvarez enjoying a game of backgammon with Frank 'Brandy' Brandstetter in a swimming pool at Acapulco in 1978. The image epitomizes the sophisticated leisure culture that defined Acapulco's golden age as Mexico's premier international resort destination during the late 1970s. Depicting a Hollywood actress and a hotelier moonlighting as a US intelligence officer enjoying a game of backgammon in a pool in Mexico, 'Keep Your Cool' is undeniably Aarons at his finest. This photograph captures the essence of tropical glamour at its most inventive, where the traditional parlor game of backgammon becomes an aquatic adventure in paradise. The scene represents the perfect fusion of sophistication and whimsy that characterized Acapulco's appeal to international jet-setters who appreciated both luxury and playfulness. This image embodies the carefree spirit and creative approach to leisure that made Acapulco a beloved escape for celebrities and socialites who sought unique experiences in settings of unparalleled natural beauty and refined hospitality. Slim Aarons, renowned for his evocative photographs of, as he described it, "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," was the quintessential chronicler of high society. After serving as a war photographer, Aarons turned his lens to a new landscape: the glamorous lives of Hollywood elites, Palm Beach socialites, and jet-setting debutantes and princes. His work for society publications captured an aspirational world of leisure and luxury that defined the American upper class throughout the mid-20th century, creating images that remain timeless symbols of sophistication and style. Every piece in our unique Slim Aarons collection is meticulously handcrafted using archival materials and printed on premium, luster photographic paper with environmentally safe inks, custom framed by skilled artisans who ensure that each work of art meets the exacting standards befitting such an iconic photograph.

Show off your personality while making an impactful statement to your décor with these stunning museum-quality art pieces. Each piece is printed in ultra-high resolution on your choice of premium ultra-HD metallic photo paper back-mounted under transparent acrylic glass or a high-definition print directly on high-quality diamond pearl white aluminum. Both results are a completely realistic ultra-HD photo print that has vivid colors, bold contrasts, is UV protected, and is halftone-free. All pieces are backed with aluminum framing which creates a floating effect and comes ready to hang. Differences between acrylic and aluminum: the first thing to note is that you can’t go wrong with either medium! In general, the aluminum/ metal prints have a matte finish in comparison to the acrylic gloss finish. The optical transparent acrylic glass enhances the effect of depth and brings out the metallic UltraHD photo print’s exact contours and details for a stunning 3d effect. Because the image is printed using metallic UltraHD photo paper, this format will give you sharper lines and edges at higher resolutions. There is a reflective property with acrylic which light refracts through the acrylic glass, giving your photos substance and depth, as well as superb image quality from edge to edge. Also notable is that all our acrylic art piece’s edges are hand diamond polished to capture the surrounding light. Hd metal: on the metal pieces the image is printed/infused directly on diamond pearl white aluminum. The diamond-pearl aluminum creates a stunning shimmer with a satin seen enhancing reflective properties of the image. Images appear crisp and are very visible in brightly light areas while maintaining an overall metallic sheen. All our metal prints are made of weather-resistant material, exhibiting impressive color intensity using UV color-protected technology. This makes it suitable for covered outdoor areas or bathrooms and comes ready to hang.

A native of Tacoma, Washington, Tim Klein is a commercial/editorial photographer. His career spans almost 20 years, and he has worked very successfully with esteemed magazines and Fortune 500 companies such as Apple, Discovery Channel, Forbes, The New Yorker, and Smithsonian Magazine. He shoots with a variety of cameras but prefers his Leica. “My photography is inspired by people, places, and things. I was trained as a photojournalist so I find inspiration everywhere — from my travels abroad to my own backyard. My biggest source of inspiration is light, especially the way it can dramatically change a scene. I love the glow of morning light through fog, the graphic shadows of noon light, the light of an overcast day, and the dramatic rosecolored light at sunset. I am fascinated by people and their stories — from celebrities and people overcoming a life-changing obstacle, to simple loving moments between a parent and their child. There is so much beauty in everyday life. I meet so many people from drastically different backgrounds and all of them inspire me tell their stories with photography. I am also drawn to nature, from vast open landscapes, to intricate details and patterns. The experience of really noticing the world around me is the greatest inspiration of all.” Tim currently lives and works in Chicago, Illinois.

Unvarnished Memories features a classical foreshortening technique using the nude female body. The propositional spatial relationship of the drawn female figure is centered within the picture frame. The figure is viewed from the back with an outstretched leg as she balances herself forward on her fingertips. A beige and taupe color scheme nicely complements the work in a belgique-antwerpen deckle frame. A pensive reflection of days gone by. Neutral tones blur the line between figure and space in this exclusive piece made for Art by TA.
