This delightful photograph captures a gathering of young matrons in Palm Beach, Florida, elegantly dressed in the vibrant, colorful Lilly Pulitzer shift dresses that defined the height of resort fashion sophistication in April 1964. The women are wearing the signature "gaily coloured Lilly Pulitzer shift" that had become the unofficial uniform of Palm Beach society, embodying the carefree elegance of America's most exclusive resort destination. This photograph captures the pivotal moment when Lilly Pulitzer's bright printed cotton shifts had transformed from juice stand practicality into high society fashion following Jackie Kennedy's endorsement, representing the birth of American resort wear. Aarons masterfully documents the cultural phenomenon that was Palm Beach in the mid-1960s, where the casual elegance of country club life merged with tropical glamour to create a new aesthetic that defied conventional fashion rules. This scene embodies the sophisticated leisure culture that made Palm Beach the playground for America's elite families including the Kennedys, Rockefellers, and Whitneys, where "floridly bright and dazzlingly patterned shifts" became synonymous with refined casual chic. The image represents the essence of 1960s high society's embrace of color, comfort, and tropical sophistication that would influence American fashion for decades to come. Slim Aarons, renowned for his evocative photographs of, as he described it, "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," was the quintessential chronicler of high society. After serving as a war photographer, Aarons turned his lens to a new landscape: the glamorous lives of Hollywood elites, Palm Beach socialites, and jet-setting debutantes and princes. His work for society publications captured an aspirational world of leisure and luxury that defined the American upper class throughout the mid-20th century, creating images that remain timeless symbols of sophistication and style. Every piece in our unique Slim Aarons collection is meticulously handcrafted using archival materials and printed on premium, luster photographic paper with environmentally safe inks, custom framed by skilled artisans who ensure that each work of art meets the exacting standards befitting such an iconic photograph.

Background is really beige almost yellowish . There this (I don’t know what to call it ) “puzzle piece” on her mid back that is very white and rectangular with a jagged edge . Not sure what it’s suppose to be but looks like a poorly cut bandaid . My eye goes straight to it as it’s so stark white compared to the rest of her back . Guess that’s what I get for ordering “art” without seeing it in person . Other than the yellow background and bandaid on her back , it’s tolerable. To me it’s worth about 400 dollars . This charming photograph captures the iconic Lilly Pulitzer boutique in Palm Beach, Florida, taken on January 1, 1968, showcasing the vibrant retail environment that embodied the brand's spirited approach to fashion and lifestyle. The image features the juice bar that remained part of the store as a nod to Lilly's original fruit stand on Via Mizner, where her fashion empire began, complete with signage for the brand's original "Men's Stuff" line that represented an early foray into menswear during the company's golden era. Lilly Pulitzer's Palm Beach shop represented the epicenter of American resort fashion, where the socialite-turned-entrepreneur had transformed a humble juice stand into a fashion phenomenon that defined the preppy, sun-soaked lifestyle of the 1960s. Founded in 1959 after Lilly needed a "uniform" to camouflage citrus stains while working her juice stand, the brand's colorful shift dresses became the unofficial uniform of Palm Beach's elite social set. By 1968, the boutique was attracting celebrities, socialites, and fashion enthusiasts who sought the vibrant prints and effortless elegance that characterized the Lilly Pulitzer aesthetic, making it synonymous with the carefree sophistication of American resort wear.

A fun vintage photograph depicts women sitting in a circle creating a fun pattern with their legs.
The print is lovely, but unfortunately, the frame arrived damaged on the left side. Perigold customer service is wonderful and they immediately sent out a new print. We received the second one quickly, but the same damage was on the replacement frame—in exactly the same place—left side gauges in the frame! It appears that the frames may be stored in a way that the left sides are compromised. We have kept the replacement piece…love it!. Maureen. Huntington Beach, CA. Sun Nov 20 2022

"Pussyfooting," captured by Slim Aarons on January 1, 1958, along the sunlit shores of Jamaica, evokes the carefree elegance of tropical leisure. This enchanting photograph portrays actress Dee Hartford, wife of film producer Howard Hawks, savoring a Pussyfoot—a vibrant blend of Jamaican fruit juices—her poised silhouette framed by the shimmering sea and lush island backdrop. The scene captures the heart of 1950s jet-set glamour, weaving relaxed sophistication with exotic allure, evoking a timeless romance that continues to enchant lovers of coastal charm and refined indulgence. Slim Aarons (1916–2006), born George Allen Aarons, rose from humble origins and World War II combat photography to become a celebrated chronicler of the elite, vowing post-war to photograph only "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," with his works gracing magazines like Town & Country and now preserved in the Getty Images archive. This exquisite reproduction from Soicher Marin is printed on premium luster photo paper using state-of-the-art techniques, ensuring vibrant colors, sharp details, and enduring quality that brings a touch of mid-century sophistication to any space.

The Open Studio collection celebrates the artist at work and the magical transformations that occur when paint meets canvas. Influenced by countless artists past and present, this collection serves as a well-rounded view into the world of all things Carrier and Company.
