An eclectic collection of people filled St. Mark's square in this colorful statement piece.

This 1970 photograph, "Poolside Gossip", showcases a quintessential Palm Springs moment at a desert house designed by famed architect Richard Neutra for Edgar J. Kaufmann, a key patron of modernist architecture. Helen Dzo Dzo and Nelda Linsk relax poolside while Lita Baron approaches in the background. The residence exemplifies mid-century modern design principles with its seamless integration of indoor and outdoor spaces, clean lines, and use of natural materials. Palm Springs during this era was a hub for Hollywood elites and creatives seeking a stylish retreat in the desert, combining modern luxury with relaxed leisure. The image captures the era’s distinct blend of architectural innovation and glamorous lifestyle, emblematic of the post-war American fascination with sophisticated, sun-soaked living. Slim Aarons, renowned for his evocative photographs of, as he described it, "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," was the quintessential chronicler of high society. After serving as a war photographer, Aarons turned his lens to a new landscape: the glamorous lives of Hollywood elites, Palm Beach socialites, and jet-setting debutantes and princes. His work for society publications captured an aspirational world of leisure and luxury that defined the American upper class throughout the mid-20th century, creating images that remain timeless symbols of sophistication and style. The photograph is presented as a high-resolution scan of the photo's original photographic slide, complete with hand-lettered archival notations along the mount. Offered exclusively by Soicher Marin, this edition preserves the full character of the original format, transforming it into a striking piece of wall art that merges history, authenticity, and timeless style. More than a photograph, it is a curated artifact of American cultural glamour, bringing a refined yet playful sophistication to any well-appointed interior. Every piece in our unique Slim Aarons collection is meticulously handcrafted using archival materials and printed on premium, luster photographic paper with environmentally safe inks, custom framed by skilled artisans who ensure that each work of art meets the exacting standards befitting such an iconic photograph.
I am in Awwww My first framed Slim Aarons photograph, and it truly is all I had dreamed of. I hope to continue adding to my newly created collection.. Kelly. Chattanooga, TN. Thu Jul 23 2026

This captivating photograph captures the idyllic leisure atmosphere at the legendary Tahoe Tavern on the shores of Lake Tahoe, California, in 1959. The image showcases the resort during its final golden years as one of America's premier mountain destinations, where bathers enjoyed the perfect combination of alpine grandeur and sophisticated hospitality that defined the Sierra Nevada's most celebrated luxury retreat. Depicting the timeless allure of American mountain resort culture, this photograph embodies the vision of timber baron Duane L. Bliss, who transformed Lake Tahoe into an international playground for discerning travelers seeking "primitive simplicity with twentieth century luxury." The scene represents the culmination of nearly sixty years of refined hospitality, where the Tahoe Tavern served as "the finest hostelry between San Francisco and the Rockies," attracting guests from across the United States and Europe who arrived via the resort's own narrow-gauge railroad and elegant steamship service to experience the unparalleled beauty of America's most spectacular alpine lake. This vibrant photograph, "Keep Your Cool", from January 1978 captures Carmen Alvarez and Frank "Brandy" Brandstetter immersed in a leisurely game of backgammon while seated in the cool waters of an Acapulco swimming pool. The scene perfectly encapsulates the laid-back glamour and playful sophistication of the late 1970s, when luxury vacations blended relaxation with social interaction in exquisite settings. Acapulco, long a magnet for international jet-setters and Hollywood elites, provided the ideal backdrop for such moments of intimate leisure amid sun-soaked, tropical splendor. This image reflects an era when casual elegance and indulgent pastimes were celebrated as part of a cultivated lifestyle. I would have preferred to have an all white Matt finish around the perimeter and an off-white....there is a 1/4 inch matt border surrounding the primary edge of the print, followed by another 1/4 inch matt border in green, followed by another approximate 2 1/4 inch matt border in off-white. Although your website indicates only the large 2 1/4 inch matt border without any reference of the 2 smaller borders....It is the presence of the off-white that detracts from the overall look/success of the print. I feel the white border referenced in your website permits the overall print to stand out much more pronounced, as compared to the off-white which tends to mute the Japanese depiction of the village coastline. It's all in the details sadly. Gary. Winnabow, NC. Wed Aug 07 2024

This image distills the spirit of an era when Beverly Hills was not just a destination but a cultural symbol of elegance and aspiration.
