Perhaps William Morris’s most recognizable design, Strawberry Thief, was inspired by the thrushes that crept under Morris’s strawberry nets in his garden at Kelmscott Manor, Oxfordshire. The original pattern took several days to print using hand-carved woodblocks to build up the different colors, and ‘Strawberry Thief’ was consequently one of Morris’s firm’s most expensive cottons. While waiting to see the first piece printed, Morris endured sleepless nights in his lodgings at Merton Abbey. Designed in 1883, Strawberry Thief remains one of William Morris’s most popular and iconic designs. The wallpaper is gorgeous! BUT there is not enough at the end of a roll to make up any extra- the repeat does not allow for 'Patching' in the last strip. So, I have 4 more inches of wall than I do wallpaper..... No Bueno! I gave my wall dimensions and even added 5" to the size and the pieces I cut off each (6) roll is all the same and will only fit in one spot of the repeat. So basically you need to understand that the roll is 20.5" wide and you aren't using any part you cut off the bottom. It's adorable - I love it. I just wish I had one more roll of it....... Tracie. First produced in 1884, this opulent wallpaper design features a striped meandering diagonal branch from which flowers emanate. The original would have needed 32 blocks to print it. Today's version is available in a stunning array of colorways including an icy stone version, perfect for all walls of the room.

Taken from an original block print design in our archive this classic floral chintz is a fine example of the beautiful and abundant representations of flowers from the early twentieth century. Bursts of bouquets come to life in this trailing design featuring roses and little rosebuds iris carnations and poppies as well as cyclamen and pansies. A quintessential Sanderson floral Lakeland Paradis has been beautifully recolored with a sense of depth and shadow in the flower petals and leaves contrasting the strong grounds on which they feature. Vivid pigments in crimson steely blues and plaster blush accent each bushel of blooms.

As its title suggests this wallpaper is inspired by a set of embroidered panels depicting the seasons in stitch-work designed and probably also embroidered by May Morris c.1895-1900. Now reinterpreted as a wallpaper Seasons by May features parakeets stylized roses tulips turning stems leaves and flowers amongst a mirrored trellis.
