Artist Commentary: I call this one Dizzy Moon for what may or may not be obvious reasons. But the title came only as I was finishing up my processing. In actuality, I had no real goal in mind when I shot it outside of creating an abstract. Well, that is not entirely true. I guess I wanted to play around and see what I could see. That in itself is a goal. You gotta try new things - that is when the "a ha!" moments occur. So what is it? This is a long exposure of a laser pointer on a white folded piece of foam core in a dark room. I stood there taking shot after shot waving the laser around creating lines, shapes, dizzy circles, and even words. And I must admit, the theme from Star Wars did run through my head a few times while I was shooting! (cue the light saber sound effects) I chose this photo out of the scores I shot because I love the organic feel of the light oval. And once the image color was inverted, it was also reminiscent of a moon rising above the ocean. That was a happy surprise - another "a ha!" moment. I added a bit of texture to minimize the digital noise from the long dark exposure and did a small amount of exposure correction. Simple and fun. Day 350 of my 365 photo a day project.

Artist Commentary: This quilted wall hanging is the second in my series "Luminosity" and again I have limited my palette to focus on color pop. The fabrics are hand dyed by me, machine strip pieced and machine strip quilted in my signature style.

Artist Commentary: I find structures like the new addition to the the Milwaukee Art Museum so fascinating. The combination of harsh lines and solid rectangular shapes with the floor to ceiling glass atrium and metal facade is so…well, so damn cool. Buildings like this just beg to be photographed! Artist Commentary: Shany Porras' Translation of Copland's "Appalachian Spring" is a contemporary, geometric abstract painted on cradled wood board with a mixture of mediums. The artist selected media such as acrylic paint, washi tape, paper, and graphite. At 36 x 48 inches, the sizable pair of wood boards provide the space for rigid and blurry lines to dance together vertically in an array of bright colors. All the while, triangles intervene like staccato notes in the Copland piece.Porras states, "Many of my paintings are translations of orchestral music. For this painting, I translated "Appalachian Spring" to celebrate the rebirth of our nation at the end of a devastating global pandemic. The colors are vibrant and playful and free."Porras has signed the bottom and includes written details, including a serial number on the back. A certificate of authenticity, signed by the artist, is included once purchased. The two wood panels are wired and ready to hang.

Artist Commentary: This painting came about after spending day after day and week after week away from society and family. I tried to do a painting that reflected my state of mind right now.

Artist Commentary: Kiss is part of a digital painting style that I developed in order to capture the essence of the relationship between humanity and technology. I was originally also inspired by the novel 1984, appropriation art and minimalist works. The actual method I use to create the works is to first create the tools on the computer. The application of photos and original digital tools mimic the human/technology overlap. This specific painting "Kiss" includes an image of Marilyn Monroe within the distortions. Mixed technique, limited edition
