Fern Cassidy was born in Oakland, CA but grew up in Colorado. She enjoys traveling, being outdoors, food & painting. Fern studied drawing and painting at CSU Long Beach where she learned a lot from professors that she trained under but most of her experience comes from her personal practice. She works in all mediums including oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache but also likes to experiment with textiles and fiber arts as well. I was born in the Foothills of California, a small town called Tuolumne, fairly close to Yosemite National Park. I studied textile design and oil painting. I studied at a local community college back home and at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandise. Art has a lot of meaning to me. It’s a way of communicating, expressing myself, and connecting myself to my thoughts and to others. I find inspiration mainly from nature and emotions. I like to use all mediums, but my favorites are oil, acrylic, and watercolor. I enjoy being outdoors, playing music, painting, singing, writing, and being with friends.

Each has its own level and style of motion. Some are lively, while others are quite still. She recalls her lithography professor, who would often ask, “What is the nature of the thing?” “I like paintings that you feel you could reach into. I try to create depth for them. The expansive desert sky can seem as if it were a living organism. The hills can feel as though they are moving, like bodies of earth. I like the surface of the canvas, and the way paint can be layered is such a contrast to printmaking. But I am still drawn to the simplicity of form that I learned there.” She lives in central Phoenix, close to its newly-revived art scene, with her husband and their three dogs.

L. Bodine grew up in the pastoral lands of Kentucky, using the colors and patterns in nature as his inspiration. As the oldest of nine children, he spent most of his time taking care of his younger brothers and sisters. During his spare time, he used art as an escape from his busy life. Obsessed with the peace of mind that art gave him, he decided to pursue a career as an artist. Although he resides in Kentucky near his family, he spent most of his adult life traveling the country and soaking up various influences. L. Bodine continues to travel, spending his time with nature and studying the different palettes and shapes of the world as the foundation for new art.
