Set against the majestic peaks of the Swiss Alps, this 1964 photograph, "Lounging in Verbier", captures a vibrant winter scene in Verbier, Switzerland, a rising star in the world of alpine sports during the mid-twentieth century. Nestled in the canton of Valais, Verbier was beginning to attract a spirited, adventurous crowd drawn to its expansive slopes and youthful energy. The sunlit gathering of skiers and loungers, framed by towering mountains, reflects a moment when the post-war generation embraced the mountains not just for sport, but for community and escape. In this image, Verbier stands on the cusp of becoming an icon, where snow and sun combined to create a distinctly modern alpine lifestyle. Slim Aarons, renowned for his evocative photographs of, as he described it, "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," was the quintessential chronicler of high society. After serving as a war photographer, Aarons turned his lens to a new landscape: the glamorous lives of Hollywood elites, Palm Beach socialites, and jet-setting debutantes and princes. His work for society publications captured an aspirational world of leisure and luxury that defined the American upper class throughout the mid-20th century, creating images that remain timeless symbols of sophistication and style. The photograph is presented as a high-resolution scan of the photo's original photographic slide, complete with hand-lettered archival notations along the mount. Offered exclusively by Soicher Marin, this edition preserves the full character of the original format, transforming it into a striking piece of wall art that merges history, authenticity, and timeless style. More than a photograph, it is a curated artifact of American cultural glamour, bringing a refined yet playful sophistication to any well-appointed interior. Every piece in our unique Slim Aarons collection is meticulously handcrafted using archival materials and printed on premium, luster photographic paper with environmentally safe inks, custom framed by skilled artisans who ensure that each work of art meets the exacting standards befitting such an iconic photograph.

The artist, Richard Ryder, developed an affinity towards art at an early age where he took every opportunity to incorporate art into his assignments. During his early years, while attending elementary school, he would doodle on the blank side of envelopes or any discarded paper. This drove his passion to pursue taking studio art courses while in high school & continued that pursuit through to four-year formal art education. As an artist that is heavily influenced by graphic design, Art Deco, and traditional animation, Richard aims to capture the beauty in whichever subject he is painting. He focuses on ways to exploit the basic elements of art to create a satisfying and cohesive design. As an artist, Richard seeks to improve and challenge himself. He states that “With the internet, I am constantly inspired by art either in the fine art or commercial field. It is this exposure that leads me to constantly explore different mediums and styles."

Austin Beiv grew up in the tough streets of Brooklyn. Where the expression of one’s self was usually done through wall tagging, or as they say in Italian "graffito". Austin was influenced by many different artists particularly Fernando Carlo. Fernando was well known for his expressive graffiti. The influence from Austin’s childhood is where the edge and contemporary look comes from in his art pieces. Austin graduated from Pratt Institute in the early ’90s. Austin now travels all over America to look for inspirations whether it’s a tagged wall or an art museum. Austin loves to embrace all the unique and expressive simplicities life offers.

Chris Dunker has photographed industrial culture for over two decades. His Father introduced photography to Chris at an early age. Chris attended Al Weber Workshops and classes at the community college where Chris’s Father taught photography. Dunker earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Art and Design with a photography concentration and a minor in Philosophy from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. In 1995 he completed a Masters of Fine Arts in photography from Utah State University. Chris grew up in China Lake, California which is in the isolated and remote high desert east of the Sierras. This austere and harsh environment is punctuated with mining outposts, rock art, and industrial-military structures, all influences of Dunker’s formative years. A strong interest in industrial music and performance groups like Survival Research Laboratories expanded his understanding of how industrial dynamics could be integrated into art forms and how an aesthetic could be derived from objects of utility. As an Assistant Professor of Photography at Utah State University, Dunker taught History of Photography and many other classes. Research in this field broadened his awareness of how photographers consider the role of industrial culture in relation to the human condition.

This vibrant and stylish photograph captures two women wearing brightly-colored skiwear standing in the foreground of a group of people attending a party in Snowmass Village, Pitkin County, Colorado, in April 1968. The scene showcases the sophisticated social gatherings that defined America's newest and most ambitious ski resort development, where the promise of European-style Alpine luxury was being realized in the dramatic Colorado Rockies just months after Snowmass's spectacular opening season. This captivating image embodies the pioneering spirit and glamorous social culture that characterized Snowmass during its inaugural years as America's most complete winter resort destination. The photograph captures the community during its remarkable transformation from pastoral Brush Creek Valley ranches into the country's largest and most ambitious ski village, designed to emulate the legendary Alpine resorts of Europe while establishing a distinctly American interpretation of mountain luxury. The scene represents the fulfillment of developer Bill Janss's extraordinary vision to create a ski resort that would rival Vail and any other destination in the world, where international sophistication met Colorado's rugged natural beauty in an unprecedented mountain community that attracted celebrities, socialites, and ski enthusiasts seeking the ultimate combination of world-class terrain, architectural innovation, and refined hospitality. This image perfectly captures the optimistic energy and social dynamism of Snowmass's early years, when the resort was setting new standards for mountain living and establishing itself as a premier destination for America's emerging ski elite. Slim Aarons, renowned for his evocative photographs of, as he described it, "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," was the quintessential chronicler of high society. Artist Zoey Riley was born to very conservative and traditional parents, who did not support her interest in fine arts. Zoey pursued her passion for fine art secretly as an adolescent, due to her parent’s restrictions, and used the art she viewed in galleries as her tutor. As soon as she was of age, she fled her hometown to live in New York City in order to be closer to a fast-paced environment, concentrated with art galleries. Zoey used everything around her to draw inspiration, from the street signs to the dancers seen through the windows of dance studios. After taking in all she could from the modern New York art scene, Zoey made her move to San Francisco, where she could expand her skills and be a part of the culture-filled scene. Today, she resides in Southern California, still searching for the experience that will take her to the next level.

Artist Commentary: My paintings are always inspired by nature which I find very intriguing. The idea for this surreal painting came from 2 different sources: 1. A long time ago I saw a documentary of a guy who used his savings to buy land to start planting orange trees and make a living. His name was Baldassare Forestiere. After he bought the land he was very frustrated to find out that the soil was not good for planting orange trees. Then he came up with the idea of digging up holes to reach the lower layers where he could find good soil. He dug holes for every orange tree that he was planting. The bottom of each tree was lower than the ground level but the top of the trees would poke out above ground level. Forestiere created an amazing underground world with complex patios, grottoes and garden courts. I always thought this was a fascinating and inspiring story and it’s in my list of places to visit. It is located in Fresno, California and it is open for visitors! This painting is actually very different (visually) from the Forestiere Underground Gardens, but it represents a similar concept of “going beneath the surface to find what you are looking for” per Forestiere’s words, while at the same time it supports my idea of connecting with nature as a way to connect with our inner-selves. I believe that past-present-future are all interconnected and I want to capture this connection as a single moment. 2. I live in a hilly area and my house is located on top of one of the hills. The view from my dining room shows the top of a wooded area as if all that greenery (the top of the trees) was just grass or land where you could just walk right on top and actually reach the other houses located on the hill right across. This view always reminds me of the story above and I had to turn all this into a painting.
