Brad Ellis is a Texas-based artist whose focus is on abstract painting. Throughout his career, he has continually experimented with imagery from tightly rendered, systematic patterns to loosely constructed, expressionistic compositions. He has distinguished himself by embracing the ancient medium of encaustic which is hot wax painting and is a process by which heated beeswax is mixed with pigments and applied to board or canvas and then fused to the surface with a heat source. Brad approaches each new painting with the same consistency that he's employed for many years now which he referred to as “Pattern, Rhythm, and Process.” He typically starts each painting by building up layers of paper and/or fabric collage materials by cutting and mounting these pieces onto the canvas or board and arranging them in a way to form the underlying pattern of the painting. This helps lay the foundation for the initial imagery and paves the way for the applications of the other mediums.

Austin Beiv grew up on the tough streets of Brooklyn, where self-expression was usually done through wall tagging, or as they say in Italian, "graffito." He was heavily influenced by contemporary artists like Fernando Carlo, who was well known for his expressive graffiti. This childhood exposure gives Austin's art pieces their signature edge and contemporary look. After graduating from the Pratt Institute in the early ’90s, he began traveling all over America to seek inspiration, whether from a tagged wall or an art museum, embracing all the unique and expressive simplicities life offers.

The artist, Richard Ryder, developed an affinity towards art at an early age where he took every opportunity to incorporate art into his assignments. During his early years, while attending elementary school, he would doodle on the blank side of envelopes or any discarded paper. This drove his passion to pursue taking studio art courses while in high school & continued that pursuit through to four-year formal art education. As an artist that is heavily influenced by graphic design, Art Deco, and traditional animation, Richard aims to capture the beauty in whichever subject he is painting. He focuses on ways to exploit the basic elements of art to create a satisfying and cohesive design. As an artist, Richard seeks to improve and challenge himself. He states that “With the internet, I am constantly inspired by art either in the fine art or commercial field. It is this exposure that leads me to constantly explore different mediums and styles."

Chris Dunker has photographed industrial culture for over two decades. His Father introduced photography to Chris at an early age. Chris attended Al Weber Workshops and classes at the community college where Chris’s Father taught photography. Dunker earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Art and Design with a photography concentration and a minor in Philosophy from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. In 1995 he completed a Masters of Fine Arts in photography from Utah State University. Chris grew up in China Lake, California which is in the isolated and remote high desert east of the Sierras. This austere and harsh environment is punctuated with mining outposts, rock art, and industrial-military structures, all influences of Dunker’s formative years. A strong interest in industrial music and performance groups like Survival Research Laboratories expanded his understanding of how industrial dynamics could be integrated into art forms and how an aesthetic could be derived from objects of utility. As an Assistant Professor of Photography at Utah State University, Dunker taught History of Photography and many other classes. Research in this field broadened his awareness of how photographers consider the role of industrial culture in relation to the human condition.

Donna Bernstein is a self-taught artist, painter, and sculpture. Donna drew and painted horses since she was a child. What differentiates her work is that, unlike most “equestrian” Artists, she did not grow up around horses. She did not live on a ranch. But instead, was spiritually connected to horses with an intuitive sense of them. Donna studied them voraciously; their anatomy, form, and attitudes. She had to create her horses in order to have them, her imagination played a great role, and so her stylized abstractive works reflect a non-realistic perspective, but with accurate anatomy.

"In my work, I generally don’t go looking for the most amazing waterfalls or vistas or architectural wonders, though I am happy to photograph those amazing subjects whenever I have the chance. Instead, I more typically go out to explore everyday scenes or objects in which wonders exist but often go unnoticed. I would like my work to turn people on to the many amazing things that surround them every day, and the brilliance within that too often goes unnoticed. Amy Bautz is an artist in St. Louis, Missouri who loves color and can't make art without listening to music. Amy was trained as a photojournalist a UT Austin but she also took drawing courses and even exhibited a series of paintings in the UT art school gallery. She has been drawing and painting on an almost daily basis since she was a kid. Amy uses her photography training to observe and document the world around her, particularly plants and animals. Her work is playful and earthy, sometimes veering towards the psychedelic. Amy's hero is James Jean for his multimedia, figurative approach.

I really hesitated over this because it was a bit pricy for me. But it is absolutely stunning and is mounted/framed in a way that has the picture a bit elevated from the white part. Kimmy Quillin is a New York-based artist whose life is a wandering road of creative experimentation. Color is of central importance to her work, found in bold geometries of solid color or swoops of bending backgrounds. As the daughter of an artist, Julie was always exposed to and dabbling in different mediums. While she took countless art classes, she never landed on a particular medium that called to her. Her need to be creative instead led her down a path that included an MFA in advertising design and a decade-long career as an art director. After stumbling upon alcohol inks at an art show and experimenting at home, Julie had finally found HER medium - the process itself spoke to her like none other had before. It is the actual process of working with alcohol inks that she really enjoys. She literally pours combinations of ink and rubbing alcohol and directs the ink with a heat embossing tool that blows hot air, so there are no brushes or contact with the surface. It's like a little science experiment every time and is extremely rewarding. Julie's work tends to be vibrant, playful, and full of layered movement.

Jakob Wagner was born in 1985 in Herdecke, Germany. In summer 2008, he successfully completed his three-year apprenticeship as a photographer. After five more years as a photo assistant for a few renowned photographers, he started his own business in Düsseldorf specializing in landscape, aerial, cityscape, industrial, and fine art photography. When Jakob Wagner is not at work on commissioned assignments, he devotes much of his time and passion to his personal photography projects, which have been featured already in many art magazines, books, blogs, and exhibitions worldwide.

Jess has been painting with watercolors and oils on large canvases, small scraps of paper, and everything in between for as long as she can remember. She went to Savannah College of Art and Design, never thinking that one day she would “actually” become an artist. That took a bit longer to realize. But here she is, living the dream. Jess's mission is simple: to make beautiful work that makes people feel extraordinary. Her aesthetic is influenced by her African upbringing - using simple lines, rich colors, and organic shapes to capture life in every form. She believes the process is just as important as the outcome, when she's in a flow and she enjoys the process the work feels fresh, effortless, and alive. After she conceives a new idea she tries to spend some quality time with it - to let it sink in. Then usually the work comes out very quickly. If it doesn’t, she never forces it, she just goes outside for a bit, clears her head, and comes back later. It’s amazing what fresh air can do for perspective.

Riley Ryan-Wood is an Austin, TX-based photographer who has been pursuing abstract minimal landscapes for the past two years in places like Marfa, TX, and the Eastern Fjords in Iceland. Riley describes her work as eerie, blunt, abstract, and soft.

Geoffrey Baris is a photographer in Saint Petersburg, Florida, who spent 30 years of his career as a fashion photographer and shot almost every catalog that you threw away, from Cosmopolitan to Eddie Bauer. While Geoffrey was on assignment all over the world for his fashion work he started photographing the beautiful nature of the exotic locations. He fell in love with making art and finding abstractions in nature. Frequently, when Geoffrey is asked, "What is that a picture of?" his response is that he is attempting to discover and illuminate unique shapes and forms that surround us in everyday things.
