Austin & Barn Oversized Wall Art

Brad Ellis is a Texas-based artist whose focus is on abstract painting. Throughout his career, he has continually experimented with imagery from tightly rendered, systematic patterns to loosely constructed, expressionistic compositions. He has distinguished himself by embracing the ancient medium of encaustic which is hot wax painting and is a process by which heated beeswax is mixed with pigments and applied to board or canvas and then fused to the surface with a heat source. Brad approaches each new painting with the same consistency that he's employed for many years now which he referred to as “Pattern, Rhythm, and Process.” He typically starts each painting by building up layers of paper and/or fabric collage materials by cutting and mounting these pieces onto the canvas or board and arranging them in a way to form the underlying pattern of the painting. This helps lay the foundation for the initial imagery and paves the way for the applications of the other mediums.

Austin Beiv grew up on the tough streets of Brooklyn, where self-expression was usually done through wall tagging, or as they say in Italian, "graffito." He was heavily influenced by contemporary artists like Fernando Carlo, who was well known for his expressive graffiti. This childhood exposure gives Austin's art pieces their signature edge and contemporary look. After graduating from the Pratt Institute in the early ’90s, he began traveling all over America to seek inspiration, whether from a tagged wall or an art museum, embracing all the unique and expressive simplicities life offers.

Rustic Reverie 1 captures a nostalgic spirit by offering the iconic Americana - the Barn. Here, a large barn fills the flat picture plane surface with a structure of geometric shapes that build onto each other to form the whole. Line plays a distinct role by outlining the patchwork shapes while the color palette underscores the weather-worn tone of the work. Line and a color palette in smoke gray, steel blue, ivory, and creamy white combine to give the work a three-dimensional effect. Part of the carefully curated art. Rustic Reverie 2 is a quintessential view of the back of the iconic American barn. In this work, minimalism prevails while texture provides the focal point. The grain of weathered wood is rendered through meticulous line work and the careful application of light and shading in bleached white and dove gray. Scale is achieved by the addition of a small geometric outbuilding with walls in mocha brown and a roof in pewter gray. The eye draws itself to three central points - a small white door and the negative space created by two barn windows in the upper half of the picture plane. A muted-blue background and hunter-green foreground add depth while giving a sense of three-dimensionality. Part of the carefully curated collection, Rustic Reverie 2 invites the viewer into the serene stillness of the barn's history that speaks of time's quiet passage. Product itself is great. Took way too long to ship!!! Got delayed numerous times. FedEx delivery wasn’t too great. They left it outside and uncovered leaning against an expensive potted plant and the garage door. I have a large covered porch. It rains here a lot. Donna Bernstein is a self-taught artist, painter, and sculpture. Donna drew and painted horses since she was a child. What differentiates her work is that, unlike most “equestrian” Artists, she did not grow up around horses. She did not live on a ranch. But instead, was spiritually connected to horses with an intuitive sense of them. Donna studied them voraciously; their anatomy, form, and attitudes. She had to create her horses in order to have them, her imagination played a great role, and so her stylized abstractive works reflect a non-realistic perspective, but with accurate anatomy.

His education and professional background are in social work, education, and statistics, and I continue to be interested in utilizing social science research to better understand how all people can master themselves and their environments to realize their potential and their dreams. "In my work, I generally don’t go looking for the most amazing waterfalls or vistas or architectural wonders, though I am happy to photograph those amazing subjects whenever I have the chance. Instead, I more typically go out to explore everyday scenes or objects in which wonders exist but often go unnoticed. I would like my work to turn people on to the many amazing things that surround them every day, and the brilliance within that too often goes unnoticed. Like a yellowed leaf that’s fallen on the hood of a deep blue car, or two bright green vines that meet and wrap around each other in an empty space."

Kimmy Quillin is a New York-based artist whose life is a wandering road of creative experimentation. Color is of central importance to her work, found in bold geometries of solid color or swoops of bending backgrounds. Unexpected harmonies and borderline discords balance precipitously on their proportions and spatial relationships. Kimmy finds joy in letting her eyes travel over a painting, finding the special juxtapositions or interactions, that seem like a little smirk or a quiet joke. She finds the paintings to be playful and tender in character, but also deliberate to give pause.

Jess has been painting with watercolors and oils on large canvases, small scraps of paper, and everything in between for as long as she can remember. She went to Savannah College of Art and Design, never thinking that one day she would “actually” become an artist. That took a bit longer to realize. But here she is, living the dream. Jess's mission is simple: to make beautiful work that makes people feel extraordinary. Her aesthetic is influenced by her African upbringing - using simple lines, rich colors, and organic shapes to capture life in every form. She believes the process is just as important as the outcome, when she's in a flow and she enjoys the process the work feels fresh, effortless, and alive. After she conceives a new idea she tries to spend some quality time with it - to let it sink in. Then usually the work comes out very quickly. If it doesn’t, she never forces it, she just goes outside for a bit, clears her head, and comes back later. It’s amazing what fresh air can do for perspective.

As the daughter of an artist, Julie was always exposed to and dabbling in different mediums. While she took countless art classes, she never landed on a particular medium that called to her. Her need to be creative instead led her down a path that included an MFA in advertising design and a decade-long career as an art director. After stumbling upon alcohol inks at an art show and experimenting at home, Julie had finally found HER medium - the process itself spoke to her like none other had before. It is the actual process of working with alcohol inks that she really enjoys. She literally pours combinations of ink and rubbing alcohol and directs the ink with a heat embossing tool that blows hot air, so there are no brushes or contact with the surface. It's like a little science experiment every time and is extremely rewarding. Julie's work tends to be vibrant, playful, and full of layered movement.
