Chelsea House
Hand-painted wood panel with a chinoiserie design

3 Colors, 4 Sizes
In this Chinese fine brush painting, early winter sets in at dusk. Over a misty river, the sun seems to hide behind a curtain, creating a dreamy feel. A teal kingfisher sits on a reed, its bright colors popping against the scene. Snowflakes lightly touch the reeds, adding a hint of winter chill. The river is calm, and the bird seems lost in thought, looking at the setting sun. The painting has a calm vibe, and the detailed feathers of the kingfisher show the artist's skill. It feels like you're right there, experiencing the moment.
It’s beautiful. It took forever to arrive and the frame was a bit dinged up. Surprising for something so pricey. I didn’t want to return and have to wait months again so I used a sharpie to disguise the affected areas. Unless you’re nose with it, one cannot tell. It is a soothing piece for my Asian-themed bedroom but would be at home anywhere!. Renã©e. Lithonia, GA. Sun Feb 02 2025

The water is cold, the smoke is light, the fog is light and the clouds are thin. The mountain scenery is faintly visible in the mist, leading the viewers to wander in the mountains and follow the clouds and smoke to find paradise.

Willow trees gracefully line a tranquil river, their leaves softly touching the surface of the water. Nearby, an empty boat seems to await an adventurer, while foggy mountains loom in the backdrop, providing a dreamlike setting. This painting is a poetic snapshot, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in a serene summer landscape where nature's elements come together in perfect harmony.

Climbing a mountain is like a spiritual journey. Each climber carries their own hopes and challenges. Some push forward, shedding their burdens, while others might hesitate or turn back. Only those with true determination reach the top, where breathtaking, heavenly views await.

"Far Sight of Mountains in Clouds" is composed with a perspective that looks far into the distance, a technique that often evokes feelings of vastness and serenity, allowing viewers to feel relaxed and elevated. The seas of clouds are painted in a way that carries an ethereal charm, encouraging a calm introspection and providing a momentary escape from the mundane world. As for the artistic technique, the painting utilizes a light ink-wash style. This approach lies between the vibrant colors of the blue-green heavy color style and the simplicity of pure ink. After finishing with the ink, subtle shades of light blue-green and sienna are added to achieve the final effect. This not only reduces the potential overpowering sensation from the vibrant colors but also avoids the monotony that can come with pure ink.

In this evocative artwork, the artist captures the ethereal beauty of a mountain valley after a rainfall. Mist fills the air, and streams converge to form a rushing waterfall that serves as the painting's dynamic focal point. Surrounded by rugged rocks, the water cascades forcefully, gathering into swirling eddies downstream. Though employing simple lines, the artwork powerfully conveys the formidable energy of nature. The piece invites viewers to lose themselves in this fleeting, yet timeless, post-rain reverie.

His career spans almost 20 years, and he's been published in esteemed magazines and worked with many Fortune 500 companies such as Apple, Burberry, Esquire Magazine, The New Yorker, W Magazine, and Yamaha. He shoots with a variety of cameras but prefers his Leica. "My photography is inspired by people, places, and things. I was trained as a photojournalist so I find inspiration everywhere - from my travels abroad to my own backyard. My biggest source of inspiration is light, especially the way it can dramatically change a scene. I love the glow of morning light through the fog, the graphic shadows of noon light, the light of an overcast day, and the dramatic rose-colored light at sunset. I am fascinated by people and their stories - from celebrities and people overcoming a life-changing obstacle to simple loving moments between a parent and their child. There is so much beauty in everyday life. I meet so many people from drastically different backgrounds and all of them inspire me to tell their stories with photography. I am also drawn to nature, from vast open landscapes to intricate details and patterns. The experience of really noticing the world around me is the greatest inspiration of all." Tim currently lives and works in Chicago, Illinois.

This painting was inspired by a classic flute piece of the same name. The shepherd depicted carries the meaning of protecting the good and guiding justice, often symbolizing a great enlightened being who saves human beings.
