The period following Alexander the Great's death and the division of his empire is often considered the beginning of the Hellenistic Age. A historical moment in time that brought forth art characterized by trompe l'oeil, three-dimensional perspective, and carefully rendered forms in a diverse range of subjects and styles. In Stop Thinking So Much 1, the realistic anatomy of the face and the expressive movement of the jawline recall the refined techniques used in the creation of Hellenistic sculptures.
