This enchanting photograph captures the quintessential elegance of 1960s alpine leisure, featuring a group of women reclining on the snow in Gstaad with rugs covering their knees during the height of the Swiss resort's emergence as the premier winter destination for the international jet set. Photographed in 1963, this iconic image embodies the sophisticated après-ski culture that defined Gstaad's transformation from a quiet farming village into the most fashionable ski resort in Europe. The scene perfectly captures the era when fashion designers like Christian Dior, Pierre Cardin and André Courrèges all began producing their own high fashion skiwear lines, dressing the likes of Sophia Loren and Princess Grace of Monaco as the Jet Set descended upon Alpine resorts. These elegant women, bundled in luxurious fur and wool against the pristine Alpine backdrop, represent the new breed of cosmopolitan socialites who made Gstaad synonymous with refined winter leisure, where the social scene rivaled the skiing itself in importance and glamour. Slim Aarons, renowned for his evocative photographs of, as he described it, "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," was the quintessential chronicler of high society. After serving as a war photographer, Aarons turned his lens to a new landscape: the glamorous lives of Hollywood elites, Palm Beach socialites, and jet-setting debutantes and princes. His work for society publications captured an aspirational world of leisure and luxury that defined the American upper class throughout the mid-20th century, creating images that remain timeless symbols of sophistication and style. Every piece in our unique Slim Aarons collection is meticulously handcrafted using archival materials and printed on premium, luster photographic paper with environmentally safe inks, custom framed by skilled artisans who ensure that each work of art meets the exacting standards befitting such an iconic photograph.

The image shows a bartender expertly mixing drinks for elegant guests against the breathtaking backdrop of the Omershorn mountain, epitomizing the sophisticated winter leisure culture that defined Europe's most exclusive ski destinations during the golden age of Alpine tourism. Hotel Krone, first mentioned in historical records in 1741 as a travelers' rest stop, had evolved by 1960 into one of Austria's most prestigious luxury hotels, run by the Pfefferkorn family for multiple generations. Lech itself represented the pinnacle of Alpine glamour, attracting aristocrats, celebrities, and discerning international travelers to its pristine slopes and refined hospitality. This whimsical and iconic photograph captures three skiing waiters gracefully navigating the slopes of Stowe, Vermont, on January 1, 1962, with each server carrying the essentials of refined mountain dining: the man in the foreground balances a bird on a silver tray, the second carries wine chilling in an ice bucket, and the third holds a menu. This vibrant and stylish photograph captures two women wearing brightly-colored skiwear standing in the foreground of a group of people attending a party in Snowmass Village, Pitkin County, Colorado, in April 1968. The scene showcases the sophisticated social gatherings that defined America's newest and most ambitious ski resort development, where the promise of European-style Alpine luxury was being realized in the dramatic Colorado Rockies just months after Snowmass's spectacular opening season. This captivating image embodies the pioneering spirit and glamorous social culture that characterized Snowmass during its inaugural years as America's most complete winter resort destination. The photograph captures the community during its remarkable transformation from pastoral Brush Creek Valley ranches into the country's largest and most ambitious ski village, designed to emulate the legendary Alpine resorts of Europe while establishing a distinctly American interpretation of mountain luxury. The scene represents the fulfillment of developer Bill Janss's extraordinary vision to create a ski resort that would rival Vail and any other destination in the world, where international sophistication met Colorado's rugged natural beauty in an unprecedented mountain community that attracted celebrities, socialites, and ski enthusiasts seeking the ultimate combination of world-class terrain, architectural innovation, and refined hospitality. This image perfectly captures the optimistic energy and social dynamism of Snowmass's early years, when the resort was setting new standards for mountain living and establishing itself as a premier destination for America's emerging ski elite. Show off your personality while making an impactful statement to your décor with these stunning museum-quality art pieces. Each piece is printed in ultra-high resolution on your choice of premium ultra-HD metallic photo paper back-mounted under transparent acrylic glass or a high-definition print directly on high-quality diamond pearl white aluminum. Both results are a completely realistic ultra-HD photo print that has vivid colors, bold contrasts, is UV protected, and is halftone-free. All pieces are backed with aluminum framing which creates a floating effect and comes ready to hang. Differences between acrylic and aluminum: the first thing to note is that you can’t go wrong with either medium!Hd acrylic: on 1/4″ acrylic pieces the image is back-mounted under the acrylic. The optical transparent acrylic glass enhances the effect of depth and brings out the metallic UltraHD photo print’s exact contours and details for a stunning 3d effect. Because the image is printed using metallic UltraHD photo paper, this format will give you sharper lines and edges at higher resolutions. There is a reflective property with acrylic in which light refracts through the acrylic glass, giving your photos substance and depth, as well as superb image quality from edge to edge. Also notable is that all our acrylic art piece edges are hand diamond polished to capture the surrounding light. Hd metal: on the metal pieces the image is printed/infused directly on diamond pearl white aluminum. The diamond-pearl aluminum creates a stunning shimmer with a satin seen enhancing the reflective properties of the image. Images appear crisp and are very visible in brightly light areas while maintaining an overall metallic sheen. All our metal prints are made of weather-resistant material, exhibiting impressive color intensity using UV color-protected technology. This makes it suitable for outdoor areas or bathrooms and comes ready to hang.

This extraordinary photograph captures the pioneering spirit of the Polo World Cup at St. Moritz in February 1989, just four years after the world's first snow polo tournament transformed the frozen Swiss lake into an unprecedented sporting arena. The image showcases this revolutionary winter sport during its formative years, when the breathtaking Alpine setting and innovative concept attracted international teams and sophisticated spectators to witness polo's most daring evolution. Depicting the remarkable fusion of traditional equestrian excellence with Alpine luxury, this photograph embodies the visionary brilliance that established St. Moritz as the birthplace and capital of snow polo. The scene represents the extraordinary innovation of Swiss hotelier Reto Gaudenzi, who transformed centuries-old polo tradition into a glamorous winter spectacle set against the dramatic backdrop of the Engadin Valley, where horses fitted with specially studded Alpine shoes competed on compacted snow and ice at nearly 6,000 feet above sea level, creating the world's only high-goal polo tournament on snow.
