When Eric was 16 he borrowed his father's camera traipsing through the woods behind their home, walking along dirt roads in the hills above their house, looking—always looking. Eric supposes that’s what he's doing today—walking and looking and trying to see the way that others have seen, as he attempts to see, un-see, and re-see: making all things both foreign and new. Making a small space in each photo he takes, room for the viewer, a place of both welcome and challenge. Every image is a poem. Every scene has a kind of structure. The capture of a place, for instance, involves decisions of narrative perspective (where to look, from what position), of cadence (beats, breaks, a line beneath the sky), of tone. And just like a poem, the effective image compresses emotional experience into a single, small expression.

This breathtaking photograph captures the spectacular seaside pool at the legendary Hotel Santa Caterina in Amalfi, Italy, in September 1984. The image showcases the iconic cliffside resort that has served as a secret oasis for celebrities and discerning travelers for over a century, embodying the timeless elegance and Mediterranean luxury that defines the Amalfi Coast's golden age of hospitality. Depicting the perfect harmony between architectural splendor and natural beauty that has made Hotel Santa Caterina a beloved retreat for Hollywood royalty, this photograph represents the epitome of Italian sophistication and coastal glamour. The scene embodies the resort's distinguished legacy as a family-owned sanctuary where Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton fell in love, where Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie escaped public attention, and where generations of international elite have sought refuge in settings of incomparable beauty, creating the timeless atmosphere of "la dolce vita" that has captivated visitors since 1880. Slim Aarons, renowned for his evocative photographs of, as he described it, "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," was the quintessential chronicler of high society. After serving as a war photographer, Aarons turned his lens to a new landscape: the glamorous lives of Hollywood elites, Palm Beach socialites, and jet-setting debutantes and princes. His work for society publications captured an aspirational world of leisure and luxury that defined the American upper class throughout the mid-20th century, creating images that remain timeless symbols of sophistication and style. Every piece in our unique Slim Aarons collection is meticulously handcrafted using archival materials and printed on premium, luster photographic paper with environmentally safe inks, custom framed by skilled artisans who ensure that each work of art meets the exacting standards befitting such an iconic photograph.

This enchanting photograph captures the quintessential elegance of 1960s alpine leisure, featuring a group of women reclining on the snow in Gstaad with rugs covering their knees during the height of the Swiss resort's emergence as the premier winter destination for the international jet set. Photographed in 1963, this iconic image embodies the sophisticated après-ski culture that defined Gstaad's transformation from a quiet farming village into the most fashionable ski resort in Europe. The scene perfectly captures the era when fashion designers like Christian Dior, Pierre Cardin and André Courrèges all began producing their own high fashion skiwear lines, dressing the likes of Sophia Loren and Princess Grace of Monaco as the Jet Set descended upon Alpine resorts. These elegant women, bundled in luxurious fur and wool against the pristine Alpine backdrop, represent the new breed of cosmopolitan socialites who made Gstaad synonymous with refined winter leisure, where the social scene rivaled the skiing itself in importance and glamour. Slim Aarons, renowned for his evocative photographs of, as he described it, "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," was the quintessential chronicler of high society. Martini Melody 1 is a black-and-white photograph that is a perfect metaphor for the era of jazz. This dynamic photograph captures the electric atmosphere of the 1963 Bahamas Speed Week at the Oakes Course in Nassau, featuring Gordon Butler's Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray amid the glamorous chaos of one of motorsport's most legendary events. The Bahamas Speed Week was an annual motor racing meeting held at Nassau from 1954 to 1966, and by 1963, it had evolved into one of the most glamorous, party-filled, and hotly contested events on the motorsports calendar. American cars came to the fore in 1963 with Ford and Chevrolet challenging the European marques, with A.J. Foyt winning the Nassau Trophy race that year. The 1963 edition was particularly special with great names such as Stirling Moss, A.J. Foyt, Pedro Rodriguez, Dan Gurney, Ken Miles, and Carroll Shelby descending on Nassau, creating a perfect blend of serious competition and Caribbean luxury that epitomized the jet-set lifestyle of the era. Slim Aarons, renowned for his evocative photographs of, as he described it, "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," was the quintessential chronicler of high society. This iconic photograph captures ladies by the pool at the Kaufmann Desert House in Palm Springs, California, January 1970. From right to left, former fashion model Helen Dzo Dzo Kaptur (in white lace), unknown, Nelda Linsk (in yellow), wife of art dealer Joseph Linsk, and actress Lita Baron (in the white sunhat). The Linsks are the current owners of the house. The image epitomizes the sophisticated leisure culture and Desert Modernism aesthetic that defined Palm Springs' golden age as Hollywood's exclusive desert playground during the early 1970s. Depicting stylish socialites enjoying a leisurely afternoon at Richard Neutra's architectural marvel designed in 1946 for Edgar J. Kaufmann, Sr., the house has been described as "an architectural marvel that helped define the modernist aesthetic of the resort city of Palm Springs," this photograph captures the essence of California's jet-set lifestyle at its most glamorous. The scene embodies the relaxed, moneyed allure of Palm Springs in the 60s and 70s, when it served as the perfect hideaway for the glitterati - close enough to the LA studios, far enough from the paparazzi's clicking cameras. This image represents the perfect fusion of modernist architecture and Hollywood glamour that made Palm Springs the ultimate desert retreat for America's cultural elite. Slim Aarons, renowned for his evocative photographs of, as he described it, "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places," was the quintessential chronicler of high society.
