His success in Newport prompted Butera to establish showrooms in Hollywood, California, and Park City, Utah. Butera is renowned for his approachable elegance and glamorous, West-Coastchic interiors. Barclay Butera’s inspirations are drawn from a diverse variety of grand architecture from coast to coast, European and Far Eastern influences including everything from the high-fashion runways to his far-flung world travels. Jordan Thurston is a native of Garden City, NY where he began his lifelong love of the creative arts in afterschool programs. Mostly self-taught, he continued drawing and painting throughout his formative years at New York University where he studied applied mathematics. Inspired by the complexity of the world in its simplex forms, he draws on the shapes and forms found in nature for inspiration. Artist Commentary: **This painting is part of a six piece series of 12x24 ocean waves and won the "People's Choice" award among the six paintings I painted for Maine Art Hill Gallery's "Choice Art Show 2020 Exhibition" in Kennebunk, Maine.** I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be spending my winters in Southern California and escaping the snow and cold of New England. Daily strolls on the beach are reinvigorating me and even though it’s warmer here than in Boston, I took creative license with this painting and punched up the water with colors of the Caribbean.

Austin Beiv grew up in the tough streets of Brooklyn. Where the expression of one’s self was usually done through wall tagging, or as we say in Italian "graffito". Austin was influenced by many different artists particularly Fernando Carlo. Fernando was well known for his expressive graffiti. The influence from Austin’s childhood is where the edge and contemporary look comes from in his art pieces. Austin graduated from Pratt Institute in the early ’90s. Austin now travels all over America to look for inspirations whether it’s a tagged wall or an art museum. Austin loves to embrace all the unique and expressive simplicities life offers.

Artist Commentary: I'm an avid wave watcher. I prefer a sunny day with light wind but I've been known to watch waves crash during a hot mess of a storm. For this painting, however, I got my sunny day. There was a series of these small waves approaching the shore, each one crashing in on itself. This went on for the entire hour I sat watching them. Each set of waves looked like tiny dancers and 'Pirouette" seemed like an appropriate title. This is a professionally framed piece.

Artist Commentary: I love rocks! I was actually a geology major for a nanosecond until I realized that geology wasn't my calling. I still love to study rocks and some of my favorite treasures are the rocks I've collected throughout my lifetime. Currently, I'm enjoying painting the rocky shorelines that I frequent often in California and Massachusetts.

Artist Commentary: "Sea Change" means a profound and notable transformation and if 2020 wasn't that, I don't know what was. I was traveling across the United States in our RV, painting the beautiful landscapes along the way. It was stunning and I had created a file of photos I wanted to paint, more than I knew I ever would find the time to actually get on a canvas. Right as I was beginning to paint some birch trees and put my vine charcoal to paper to lay down the big shapes, I had a real yearning for the ocean. So in this beautiful but landlocked area of America. I started drawing from my minds' eye and what emerged was "Sea Change."

Artist Commentary: My love for and interest in water started at a very young age as we spent so much of our childhood at the pool and beach. The reflected colors that show up in this clear liquid as well as the transparency of it and how you can still see on top of it even though you can also see through it mesmerizes me. I love the fact that it is always changing and you will never see the same wave twice.

Artist Commentary: **This painting is professionally framed in a 2" warm silver frame with conservation glass and backing** “Blues Traveler” was a really fun painting for me. I loved working with shades of warm and cool blues in the water as well as chasing the light and working the shadows of the rocks. If you zoom in you will see that the rocks in shadow are different values of purple, blues and greens (no browns!) and the sunlit rocks are all warm crimsons and rusts.

Artist Commentary: This is one of my favorite wave paintings. I love, love, love painting waves and will always take a break from a series I'm doing to paint a wave or two. I wish I could tell you that they get easier with every painting I do, but they don't! Water is just hard to paint but the motion of it, the colors, the way the light hits it....I just can't get enough. I have thousands of photo references and my husband often says, "For God's sake Woman! How many more photos do you need to take!?" The truth is, I could take photos of waves all day, every day. I love that I split my time between living in both New England and California as being by the ocean is something I just need in my life.

Artist Commentary: I have been exploring several new subjects recently and I'm enjoying learning the intricacies of each. I set up a piece of paper on my easel and was preparing to sketch out the next painting in a series I'm working on. But, once again, the ocean pulled me back and that's how what should have been a still life of tangerines became 'March Madness' instead.
