The item itself seems well made, but seems to be a lot plainer in person than the pictures showing on Wayfair. I selected this one at a higher price and really long lead/shipping time (2-3months), over a similar picture, due to the description stating this print had “Extra Added Texture” hand applied after printed. The painting I received does not have any texture to it that I can tell. It feels like a print with a clear coat. It did arrive 1 month earlier than the delivery date, which normally would have been appreciated, but I happened to be out of town for 2 weeks when it arrived on our porch. Maybe that is why it was early….texture didn’t get applied? I didn’t want to go through the hassle of returning, so I will keep it and maybe try adding some texture and sparkle to it myself, so it stands out a little more. Artist Commentary: As a native New Yorker, my aesthetic vision has always been deeply rooted in the urban geometry of my surroundings. The “Patchwork City” series captures the energy and vitality of the ever-changing urban landscape. Artist Commentary: I was inspired to start this series of paintings when I became aware of the bizarre patterns that appear and instantly disappear instantly on the surface of relatively calm water. They are caused by the interplay of light, shade, wind and nearby objects ( boats, rocks, harbour wall etc.) to name but a few. The state of the tide is also relevant. Choppy water reminiscent of globs of green glass can change into silvery liquid metal when the tide turns. I take great delight in seeking out new material on my travels in the U.K, the Far East and the U.S. I prefer painting on a hard surface, rather than canvas, and usually make the wood panels myself to my own specifications. Three coats of acrylic gesso are applied before the oil painting commences.

Michela Sorrentino's work juxtaposes bold, organic and architectural shapes and unusual colour combinations with dramatic mark-making that reflect an intuitive style. She loves graffiti-inspired typography that speaks to language without being literal. The abstract images that form Michela's art are visuals that interest her in day to day life.
