Mine actually arrived with a different frame than what I was expecting from the listing photos, so I was unsure at first. But once I got it leaned up and styled, I completely changed my mind. The frame I received has a softer, more textured look in person that actually works really well with my space and gives it more character. The artwork itself is beautiful — very neutral, calming, and easy to work into a room without overpowering everything else. It has that high-end abstract look that makes a space feel more finished and layered. Packaging was great and everything arrived in perfect condition. Romantic Figures 6 is a series of six playful prints reminiscent of illustrated playing cards. The series is a delightful mash-up of early synthetic cubist sentiments and bold German expressionist figures. Synthetic cubism of the early 20th century began to blur the boundaries between painting and sculpture by offering a new understanding of the pictorial surface. During the same time, German expressionism broke away from traditional norms of representing the human figure. In Romantic Figure 6, the royal prince stands determined at court confident of his position. Wearing a dark crown, he calculatingly balances an apple in the palm of his hand. His hunter-green robe tops his cubist truncated khaki trousers. He claims his fate. Pictures are nice, just like the website but have to take off one star because they were so poorly made. They glued the back with a piece of brown paper and glue was all over the frame. The entire back was so sticky I had to put scotch tape all around to prevent it from peeling off the paint of my wall. Definitely not worth $300 for the quality or workmanship.. Carol. Stephanie Dennis is an artist living and working in Oakland, California. She received her MFA in Painting and Drawing at the University of Washington and her BA from San Diego State University. She has shown her work in group shows and has taught painting at UC Davis and the University of Washington. She completed residencies at Vermont Studio Center and KALA Art Institue in Berkeley, CA. Her abstract drawings and paintings investigate ideas about place, loss and belonging, and often depict tenuously-structured forms that speak to our sense of vulnerability.
