Zoffany Upholstery Fabric

Our debut Indoor Outdoor Fabrics collection, Zoffany x Michael S. Smith is a new body of technical textiles born from hand-selected archival pieces. A reworking of a French cotton indigo resist fabric from the 18th century, Bellagio Stripe has been woven with multiple colours in the weft, resulting in a horizontal stripe effect with beautiful depth of movement. Offered in six colourways, it was designed as a companion to the Filigree Bellagio Stripe due to the fabrics’ shared scale and colours. This indoor/outdoor fabric is woven in the United States using solution-dyed acrylic blended with recycled fibres. It’s finished with a C0 fluorine-free treatment that provides durable water and stain repellency, along with mould resistance.

Azalea Path is an all-over floral design drawn from a French chintz that entered Zoffany's archives in the early 1900s. Chosen for its distinctive colour technique, the reverse of the original document – made striking by the ink pushed through during block printing – caught Michael’s eye and served as the main source of inspiration. To honour and capture this beauty, the back of Azalea Path has been engraved, lending it an authentic, lived-in character that recalls the original printing process and its subtly unbalanced aesthetic. Available in two colourways, including one directly lifted from the archives, the design is printed on a textured outdoor fabric selected for its finish and handle. This indoor/outdoor fabric is digitally printed at Zoffany’s historic UK factory onto an outdoor-ready base that’s mould resistant, lightfast, and finished with a C0 fluorine-free treatment for stain and water repellency.

It offers exceptional lightfastness and a notably soft, natural handle.

With its striking diamond and check pattern, this small-scale geometric fabric looks incredible in both classic and contemporary homes. A subtle play of matt and shine highlights the design’s intricate features to create an excellent go. Produced on plush cotton velvet.
