Chinoiserie, one of the Scalamandre brand’s design hallmarks, is an eighteenth and nineteenth-century European style that depicts highly decorative, fanciful scenes from ancient China. Today, chinoiserie has had a strong resurgence in popularity, adding a colorful and decorative element to a modern interior. Our newest cotton poplin print, Nanjing, is drawn in an easy-to-use medium scale with delicate detail, featuring pagodas, exotic flowers, and whimsical figures. Colorations range from exotic to classical, from bold indigo shades on mandarin orange to quiet grisaille on pale sky blue.
