Brad Ellis is a Texas-based artist whose focus is on abstract painting. Throughout his career, he has continually experimented with imagery from tightly rendered, systematic patterns to loosely constructed, expressionistic compositions. He has distinguished himself by embracing the ancient medium of encaustic which is hot wax painting and is a process by which heated beeswax is mixed with pigments and applied to board or canvas and then fused to the surface with a heat source. Brad approaches each new painting with the same consistency that he's employed for many years now which he referred to as “Pattern, Rhythm, and Process.” He typically starts each painting by building up layers of paper and/or fabric collage materials by cutting and mounting these pieces onto the canvas or board and arranging them in a way to form the underlying pattern of the painting. This helps lay the foundation for the initial imagery and paves the way for the applications of the other mediums.

I would have preferred to have an all white Matt finish around the perimeter and an off-white....there is a 1/4 inch matt border surrounding the primary edge of the print, followed by another 1/4 inch matt border in green, followed by another approximate 2 1/4 inch matt border in off-white. Although your website indicates only the large 2 1/4 inch matt border without any reference of the 2 smaller borders....It is the presence of the off-white that detracts from the overall look/success of the print. I feel the white border referenced in your website permits the overall print to stand out much more pronounced, as compared to the off-white which tends to mute the Japanese depiction of the village coastline. Alexys Henry grew up in both Phoenix and New York, influenced by dramatic shifts in both cultural and physical environments. As a child, the long clear expanses of snow-covered fields broken by patches of overgrown trees and half-frozen streams captivated her and continue to influence her imagery. Henry moved to Berkeley, California in 2002. “There I found myself drawn to everyday details such as cracks in walls and layers of peeling paint and poster paper. Nature flourishes alongside urban decay. For me, this is the backdrop of a duplicitous sense of danger as well as hope and community”. From there, Henry’s brief time in Seattle deeply influenced her seascapes. Now back in phoenix with her daughter, henry aspires to be a vehicle for freedom and creativity in her work. “I love to experiment with new materials and combinations and my style carries contemporary as well as organic and urban sensibilities.”

Guseul Park was born and raised in Korea and studied ceramics in college; however, she was always drawn to painting and drawing and is a self-taught artist. “Art means meditation to me. By creating art, I get to go explore the deepest side of me and examine my state of mind. Creating art always brought me to a state of pure joy. It is the place in which I can be myself.” Her favorite medium to use is a pencil which she describes as “back to basics art.” She finds inspiration in daily strolls and travel. She also enjoys reading and sewing embroidery when she is not creating new artwork.

Artist Jean Kenna was born in Seoul, Korea. She studied illustration at the art center college of design where she developed her fundamental drawing and painting skills, as well as getting basic knowledge of technical programs. For Jean, art means lots of things. She thinks art is her language and a privilege given to her to express. It is also the way that she can communicate with the world in her own unique and personal way. Jean finds her inspiration in small things that make her excited. For example, movies, a lazy day on a beach, and the silence of a rainy day. Although she mostly works on digital media, Jean loves to draw with a pen and markers. She especially likes to draw cityscapes that involve perspective and stories of city life. During the weekends, Jean often goes outside into the city, studies people and buildings around her, and brings them to life in her sketchbook. Jean believes the purpose of an artist’s work is in bringing excitement and happiness into people’s minds. ‘I love to create art that makes your heart warm’.

Ericka Wolf is an encaustic and oil artist working in Seattle, Washington. Combined with her study of color in the landscape of the natural world, Ericka tries to capture an expression that's transient and intentionally uncomplicated. Something reductive but reflective, using color as a luminous expression rather than illustration. In Ericka's current work, she's creating skies with a serenity that she has seen and felt before, and that she tries to imagine during bleak winter months in Seattle. When the state of the world itself seems bleak, she finds a quiet slowness by contemplating the sky and the broad juxtaposing of color that can exist in myriad ways. It's a calming opposite to our overstimulated culture: chaotic events and unending social media. For Ericka, the sky seems like the perfect metaphor for life-expansiveness, even though at the times dark or dangerous, ultimately beautiful in all of its vibrancy and impermanence.

Former Atlanta-based artist Kyle Goderwis graduated from The Art Institute of Atlanta in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. In 2006, he was invited to participate in his first gallery show in Atlanta. Since then he has showcased his work in over a dozen gallery shows in the Southeast. In 2010, Kyle joined a group of working professional artists to further his education in the fine art world. A recent transplant to Seattle, he has been with Grand Image since 2014 and creates a variety of abstract and expressionist paintings and other mixed media artwork.
