The color and glaze is really pretty, but there are a few very small areas on the "bottom" of the sphere (in a circular arrangement) where there is no paint and glaze -- I am assuming these areas are where it was positioned for firing, so I'm not that surprised about what could be viewed as potential flaw(s) in the overall finish. This is why I gave this 4 stars instead of 5. I put three small cork pads over these areas so the sphere wouldn't roll around. This is important if you want to have it sit on its own; this object is a TRUE sphere with no flat area on any part of it -- adding a couple pads will keep it from rolling off a table. I've placed it with some blue and white asian-inspired urns and vases, but it would also look great in a large bowl or basket with other spheres and/or some preserved boxwood balls. An unusual and eye-catching decorative element!
