Using traditional hand tools, artisan Sinclair Yao Daley of Ghana crafts a beautiful mask in the style of the Mende peoples of Sierra Leone. Mende masks typically represent the tribe's ideals of female morality and physical beauty. The artisan carved the mask by hand from sese wood and uses natural cola nut dye to stain the face. The mask can be displayed either on the wall or on a tabletop or other flat surface.
