Danna Harvey, initially a figurative painter, discovered a new direction for her work while experimenting with waxed paper over landscape photographs during a project for a Houston gallery. This pivotal moment led her to explore how landscapes could subtly evoke human emotions, employing compositions and palettes to elicit specific feelings. Through her encaustic technique, Harvey creates recognizable yet abstract views of nature, entombing completed paintings in layers of wax that vary in opacity, reflecting her ongoing process of self-examination and pursuit of inner peace.
