Pure is the new pendant lamp by Vistosi designed by architects Pio and Tito Toso with the aim of creating a light source with an enchanting and fascinating shape, which makes irregularity its distinguishing feature. The result is Pure, a “spinning top in motion” reminiscent of the particular effect generated by bubbles in water. In this project, the two architects wanted to give glass a chance to express itself and enhance its characteristics. The master glassmakers at Vetreria Vistosi have worked meticulously to enhance the beauty of the crystal by using a special process to obtain a thicker crystal lens at the bottom of the diffuser. An internal membrane, parallel to the base of the diffuser, not only emphasises the craftsmanship of the workmanship, but also makes each piece unique by modifying the contribution of light to the surface of the diffuser itself, depending on the curvature. The LED light source, when switched on, creates a series of reflections and refractions of light that enhance the lamp. The dome of the frame is designed to make the lamp adjustable, and the reduced size of the diffuser allows for cluster compositions, in which the diffusers can be freely oriented to create ever new configurations.

Glassmaking is an ancient art that tells of centuries-old knowledge, handed down from generation to generation by the love and passion of expert craftsmen who carefully hold a tradition of excellence. True icons of timeless beauty are born when know-how and craftsmanship meet design, to form a perfect synthesis of tradition and innovation. This is the case of the Giogali and Minigiogali collections designed by Angelo Mangiarotti in 1967 for Vistosi, the lighting brand that has brought glass to perfection. The Giogali lamp (Compasso d’Oro mention in 1969) introduced a new concept in the use of glass: a modular lighting system based on a single hand-crafted crystal element (a type of hook) that can be repeated indefinitely to give life to structures that appear like cascades of light. The hook is the basic module that constitutes the entire architecture of the Giogali system (name that derives from the Venetian “giongher”, or the strap used in the countryside to tie the cart to the yoke), Mangiarotti’s modern interpretation of the Venetian chandelier. Long-term research based on the innovation of traditional shapes generated the hook, which thus becomes the constructive element of the chandelier itself. The basic element can be hooked in a series to form crystal chains, which in turn can be combined to create unlimited formal designs, such as chandeliers of any size that become scenographic backdrop of rooms. Following a restyling of the product, Vistosi introduced the Giogali 3D version in 2005: a new type of hook in glass that allows it to be paired to rings in all four directions, so as to form a continuous mesh that allows great installation flexibility.

The Puppet collection by Vistosi expresses passion and artisan know-how. The undisputed protagonist is blown glass, irregularly striped, an ancient manufacturing technique, known since the Romans and then also used for the processing of Murano glass. Here, from the breath of master glassmakers, new, magical shapes come to life. For Puppet, the Romani Saccani Architetti Associati studio, already designer of the Diadema collection, chose the sphere, a symbol of perfection and union, a movement that has no beginning or end, and therefore immutable over time, just like the Puppet collection, which since its conception has become an icon of the Vistosi catalogue. Moreover, the expressive research of Romani Saccani Architetti Associati is aimed at defining a strong, identifying, but conceptually simple, and therefore easily understandable sign. The result is a collection with a pure, immediate design, free of unnecessary frills. Puppet is available as a pendant lamp, wall lamp and table lamp. The suspension version includes spheres of three different sizes, and is available in different variants such as linear versions, those with a round rosette or in the chandelier. The latter allows you to fix the diffusers to the ceiling with steel cables as desired, creating ever-changing games with the fabric electric cables that recall the strings that moved ancient puppets. The diffusers are available in four glass finishes (shaded white, transparent crystal, transparent smoke, transparent amber) with the possibility of mixing them together. The metal frame can be in polished chrome finish with gray fabric electrical cable or matt black with black fabric electrical cable. The Puppet Ring collection, born in 2019, plays with spheres of different sizes, differentiating itself from the “classic” version by using a frame composed of rings of different sizes, single or combined, which form the base on which the precious glass spheres rest, which blend with the structure thanks to a pre-forming inside the blown glass. A collection that represents the illusion of a surface created by the implosion of a volume. The glass, due to its thickness, shows a gradation of multiple layers of white and transparent crystal.

Faro consists of two glasses harmoniously connected by a metal ring. The first glass, with a transparent colored finish, appears to be connected to the second white glass that hides the LED source. The light is diffused, uniform and non-dazzling.

In Riflesso, therefore, glass becomes light, functionality merges with design, and the ultimate purpose of a lamp is never lost sight of: to illuminate, but at the same time to furnish the environment harmoniously. Hence the careful study of dimensions, which allow Riflesso to adapt to different needs, spaces and contexts, from homes to offices. The double LED source and the greater light diffusion allow the lamp to be used individually even in more spacious environments.
