KENNETH COBONPUE
Let the warm light of the Kai collection lead you home. Buri woven over a light steel frame in a linear pattern creates a strong contrast against a handmade paper diffuser.
Hundreds of individual figurines embody the playful nature of the Little People. Salago fiber is applied by hand to add volume and body to a sculptural composition of steel. The result is both dramatic and meaningful, showing what happens when people unite and work together.
Playful lines and bright colors come together in the Trame collection. Designed for Kenneth Cobonpue by Italian designer Federica Capitani, Trame is a fresh take on the art of weaving—spirited, stylish, and full of character. Ideal for adding color and comfort to modern outdoor spaces.
The dependable companion of travelers. Our Llama bar cabinet is made of rattan spokes woven on a metal frame. It features a finely sanded wooden table top and shelf, and two compartments that open on each side. Its upholstered canopy, adorned with dangling tassels, is crafted with built-in wine glass holders.
An oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday city life. Taking inspiration from the delicate shape of the tulip, its bud-shaped aluminum frame is wrapped with polyethylene strips. Cozy up in its warm and snug embrace as you lay back leisurely in our Oasis.
Beautiful forms, fluid curves, and the sublime experience of the comfortable recline. This is our Forma collection. Inspired from the shapes of sea corals, designed by the renowned Italian designer Federica Capitani, this contemporary collection displays a graceful play of balance, vibrance, and elegance.
Run your fingers on the tip of its slender grass-like poles; and listen to the mimetic tapping sound of the bamboo strips as wind breezes through every slit. Flexible rattan vines, like tall blades of grass, swaying verdantly on a steel frame. The natural tension of this versatile vine is a significant characteristic that has been well thought of in the design process of the Yoda. “We must bend, but never break,” as emphasized by the Jedi master. This is what I wanted to capture in the creation of the Yoda. Handmade and bent with tension precision, it guarantees a comfortable support as you sit on our easy chair.
The story of storks in flight carrying new-born babies by their beaks; and delivering them to new parents. This ubiquitous bedtime story in my childhood is etched, sketched, and interpreted as the Lasso. A visual allegory symbolizing a new life of serenity and peace. Waves of rattan or polyethylene strips, carefully bent in varying width and wrapped in a steel frame, simulates the movement of the wind. Drift away in a flight of dreams nestled in comfort and solitude in our luxurious Lasso.
Traditional weaving technique meets innovation, and manifests into a collection meant to exhibit the allure of weaving fabric in a motion of artistic twists and turns. The Cabaret is a modest affair of the innovative technique of fabric weaving and visual seduction.Soft fabric foam tubes are delicately woven and fastened together onto a sturdy steel frame. Experience its softness and warmth as it entices you with a sophisticated charm.
Like the stones where you playfully hop and skip along your every step, these tabletops mimic the shapes of stepping stones by the riverbed. Our Pebble coffee tables and end table is crafted with natural walnut or Macassar; supported elegantly with three steel rods. Take a part of this natural habitat into your home. Situate these beautiful coffee tables in your favorite corner and imagine strolling along the riverbank inside your home.
A single cord moving through air, captured in a moment of stillness, becomes the Corda dining table. This functional piece, crafted from random shapes and loops, is a work of art composed of a mesmerizing pattern of knots and twists. Natural cotton cord is wrapped around a molded steel frame, carefully arranged to create flowing symmetry, giving this table an intricate appeal that invites you to wander across its surface. Find yourself tracing the lines and loops with your eyes as you marvel at the beauty of its unique form.
Traditional basket weaving technique is showcased in our Matilda collection. This beautiful and simple latticework is made of polymer strips, weaved with precise tension, bringing out the pliability and durability of its curves.
Take a closer look at the intricacy of La Luna—symmetrical, sophisticated, and soft. As light moves across this moon-shaped easy arm chair, marvel at its woven texture—the elaborate twill-plaiting method of warp and weft weaving diagonally wraps around its spherical structure. A cluster of rattan stands alternately plait over and under, creating a checkered pattern, as it merges seamlessly to a finer weave. This perfected weaving technique emphasizes the characteristics of La Luna—strong and durable; yet soft and natural; lightweight and almost impervious.
The bare necessities of life—fresh air flowing freely, crystal clear blue seas and skies, lush greenery, and the warmth of our Balou easy armchair. From a favorite storybook that I have read as a child, ‘Baloo,’ the plump, gentle, and easy-going bear from The Jungle Book reminds me of soft and cozy hugs—my tell-tale inspiration for this collection. Sink into summer sunsets. Do nothing. Lay back cozily and indulge yourself in a comforting embrace of our Balou.
Inherently feminine, the design influence of Manolo revolves around the soft silhouette of a woman’s sandal. The aesthetics of its design of sinuous lines flow continuously around this easy arm chair. Marvel at Manolo’s outlines in motion. Its provocative beauty lies in the essence of craftsmanship seen in every detail—steel frame, bent and welded together, emphasize its curvaceous shape; strands of rattan or polyethylene, wrapped, hand-tied, and bound with nylon, defines its alluring sensuality. A stunning easy armchair that evokes a regal sense of elegance.
The Curio installation is inspired by 18th century curio cabinets that are brimming with shelves of strange and otherworldly collections. Curio challenges our perception of the natural world, and the idea of beauty. By stripping these objects and forms from their natural covering, color and texture, and making them hollow, we want to show the viewer that nature, or even our mere perception of it, is still wonderful. In this installation, various objects from the aquatic, avian, mammalian and insect worlds are formed by hand from wire mesh and lit from below by LED lights.
Strings of natural abaca fiber are handwoven over a scoop-shaped steel frame. The light and open-weaved elegance adds grace and balance to your space. Lulu celebrates its clean, flowing lines, organic curves, and defines the beauty of simplicity. Trace its graceful, soft outlines. Watch the lines continuously flow throughout its nest-like silhouette. Sink comfortably in the curvaceous form of Lulu.
The yearning for a quiet and simple life—to be surrounded only by what is essential and meaningful. To contemplate and marvel at nature and create beautiful experiences. “Katachi,” which in Japanese means “form and design,” is a mindset of putting together, and composing all things purposefully and functionally. My travels to Japan made me admire how the people expressed this in every aspect of their daily life. I had the pleasure of learning the Japanese art of knotting and wrapping cloth. It is fascinating how the Japanese artistically wrap a bento box and its contents. This wall installation, “Linya,” is my expression of reverence for all things natural and beautiful. Think of this as my biggest gift to you. A larger-than-life bow drawn from a single line—gracefully merging, continuously connecting, like ribbons overlapping and receding; giving depth and drama as light dances around, casting playful shadows from the layers of intersecting curves and lines of rattan.
All things around us, tangible and intangible, exist as inseparable and contradictory. Yin and Yang—a fusion of equal opposites that attract and complement: dark-light, black-white, day-night. Yin & Yang, the first Kenneth Cobonpue collection, was inspired and created from this philosophy. Alternating weaves of rattan or polyethylene strips, wrapped on a rigid and perfectly bent steel frame, display a solid form with a transparent volume.
Just like doodles on a sketch pad, the Noodle’s charm is in the random loops and curves that gives a play of imagination. Made from rattan vines that are versatile and bent with precision.
Scroll back in the early 19th century—the Victorian era that transformed the art of bookbinding. Leaf through an old book, page after page. Natural, rustic, handmade, and antiquated. Ragged and feather-edged, folded over and over. Beautifully bound and showing its aged ridges. A glimpse of this old world comes to life as we refashion the art of manuscript binding through layers of fabric to design the Parchment collection. Inspired by bound manuscripts, the charm of this armchair is in every crease and fold of inter-layered acrylic fabric, bound by a fabric-wrapped rope, lined with urethane foam, and mounted on a maple and steel base. The beauty of aged paper—a visual wanderlust that inspired the creation of the Parchment collection.
Bask under the summer sun; and let time pass as you lounge in the alluring curves of the Lolah. Inspired and created using boat-building techniques, the graceful contours—bent perfectly using thin rattan strips with planer knives and fastened over a light rattan frame, move fluidly giving shape to this classic easy armchair. Get captivated in the visual lightness and timeless elegance of the Lolah.
Tropez— It’s all about laidback luxury. Coast along the stretch of stained rattan or polyethylene strips—perfectly weaved with a precise tension; interlaced to create an architecturally proportioned structure. A good balance of soft and thick maze of weaves, with oversized armrests over a sturdy wooden frame, punctuate the clean lines of the Tropez collection. Fall in love with Tropez. It’s our version of paradise.
Every twist and knot in our Dragnet narrates the story of a fisherman heading out to sea for his daily catch. Inspired by the graceful motion of a circular casting net spreading through the air and settling where wind meets wave, Dragnet captures the rhythm and poetry of the ocean. Its striking mesh, crafted from twisted fabric and wire, is meticulously wrapped around a cocoon-shaped steel frame, creating a form that is both sculptural and inviting. Watch the ebb and flow of the tides, wrap yourself in comfort, and listen to the rhapsody of the sea through Dragnet.
Sultry, sensuous, and curvaceous. Like natural light cast on a woman’s body to emphasize the beauty of her curves, the Pigalle expresses that allure as the sun casts a play of chiaroscuro, showing its silhouette. The visual drama of this easy armchair plays up on the female form, just as it has been a significant inspiration throughout art history. Strands of polyethylene are assembled and hand-tied with more that 3000 knots over a steel frame. The provocative Pigalle easy armchair—bold and beautiful; seductive yet simple.
The art of pressing fresh flowers to create an artistic foliage resembles the fluid lines in our Bouquet—a cluster of Cosmos, etched on a fiber-reinforced-polymer surface. Delicately and carefully carved onto a 2D plane surface, then molded to create a low-relief impression of a simple floral pattern. Our dainty Bouquet coffee table, mounted on a stainless steel base, is a stunning interpretation of an Oshibana, a beautiful bouquet of flowers made to last forever.
