I have been looking to replace a favorite quilt that is so old it is coming apart. I thought this may be the one. It is not exactly what I had hoped for. The material is burlap-y, not soft and smooth like I hoped. It also has a smell that I think is from the dye. I am going to attempt wash it in the hopes that it will be better. The label says it is washable in delicate so that is what I will do. I was also a bit disappointed that for the high price it would come with pillow shams. A beautiful piece. Know that the length works IF you don't tuck in the spread under pillows. Width is not sufficient to cover both sides equally to the floor. This could be a function of our king mattress being tall, however. The width is not a problem, however, since only one side of the bed faces the entrance to the bedroom. Color: We got the gold/burgundy. Gold is the operative word, and in certain light, the color is more like a paper bag. In retrospect, we should have chosen the off-white or the brown. To get more variation in the color and to see a little of the burgundy, I flipped the spread on upside down. Now, I can see more variation in the color and a LITTLE of the burgundy. I loved this and the quality was amazing. I have never spent that much on a comforter. Upon putting it on the bed, a king bedspread on a normal king bed, it was at least 3 inches too short on each side. I was so distraught and I called the company. They basically told me I could ship it back for a return and order a King XL. I loved it so much that I did this, but it cost me over $1,000 to add 3 inches to a bedspread that should of fit right to begin with. I tried to get some kind of discount and was told I could just cancel my order. This was very frustrating to spend over $3,000 on a bedspread, not to mention the extra for the pillows.. Holly.
