[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was really excited to get the Donna Karan duvet based on the photos, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite meet my expectations. The overall appearance is much thinner than I had anticipated. In fact, I think I’ll need to invest in a much thicker comforter to go underneath it in order to give it the plush, full look I was hoping for. Without the extra padding, it just appears flat and a bit underwhelming.
The material itself is also quite different from what I expected. It has a much more metallic sheen in person than the photos suggested, which gives it a slightly shiny, almost reflective look. Depending on your taste, that might be appealing, but for me, it wasn’t the subtle, elegant finish I had in mind. Additionally, the fabric is very delicate and wrinkles extremely easily. I tried tossing it in the dryer with a damp towel to help smooth it out, but it still came out looking quite crinkled.
When the duvet is wrinkled, it definitely detracts from the overall look—it doesn’t have that smooth, sophisticated aesthetic that I wanted for my bedroom. Instead, it ends up looking a bit messy and less refined. Overall, while the design has potential, the material and construction just didn’t live up to what I was hoping for. I may keep it as a backup or layer it with other bedding, but it likely won’t be my go-to for a polished, put-together bed.
