This is handmade by artisans in small quantities to ensure that each batch maintains its character. Made from clay filled with pieces of crushed glass and pigments, the calypso is then kiln-fired to fuse the glass and keep a crystalline quality. No two pieces of calypso will ever be the same.
The tile itself was beautiful and very unique. Unfortunately the penny rounds were set much farther apart then they appeared on the website and would have required a lot of grout. Not suitable for kitchen backsplash. I returned. This tile might look quite upscale as a bar backsplash with a darker grout.. Jo. CT. Sun Apr 17 2022
