The Emery white handmade glossy terracotta tile is a testament to the beauty of tradition. These elongated subway tiles are made using centuries-old techniques. They're handmade and twice-fired in a wood-burning kiln. Emery's rich, milky white color and beautifully uneven surface can only be achieved through its genuine handmade production process. Investing in these tiles brings not just beauty into your home, but also a first-rate example of fine craftsmanship. The handcrafted tiles of the Emery collection are made using deliberately slow production techniques with each tile taking more than 30 days from start to finish. The patience shown by ceramics masters yields brilliant colors and artisanal surfaces. Made sustainably in Italy, this collection features subway formats, allowing you to mix and match for endless pattern and palette possibilities. The master ceramicists who create the Emery collection do so in a meticulous method that has been passed down for generations. The process begins with high-quality rock clay. Once purified, it is pressed into wooden molds and left to air dry for several weeks. Once dry, the clay is fired in a wood-burning kiln for 36 hours, glazed, and fired again for 20 more hours.

These are gorgeous, and I absolutely love them! They kind of took forever to arrive, but they all came together and all in one piece. There were no broken tiles, not even any cracks, chips, or scratches. I’m very pleased and quite impressed considering they came in packing peanuts (I hate packing peanuts, but they worked). The shade ranges and colors are beautiful. I love the white base that incorporates several shades of grey. The photos are one of each color and from the same box. I hope it shows the various colors and shades of each. They are simply stunning and elegant and I love the matte finish. I was afraid I wouldn’t like that, but I do! My project may require more than what’s here but I have other ideas, such as making a bathroom countertop I hope I have enough for it! If not, I’m sure I can come up with something.. Nicole. We were Inspired by Guastavino's exquisite tile arch when we create our Guastavino tile Collection; Guastavino was a Spanish architect and builder. Based on the Catalan vaults he created the Guastavino tile, a "Tile Arch System" patented in the United States in 1885 and used for constructing robust, self-supporting arches and architectural vaults using interlocking terracotta tiles and layers of mortar. Guastavino tile is found in some of New York's most prominent Beaux-Arts landmarks and in major buildings across the United States. It is used in a huge number of architecturally important and famous buildings with vaulted spaces. Guastavino was not the principal architect for most of the projects.

Designer Stacy Garcia mixed the materials (ceramic and porcelain) and intentionally curated a simple palette for her Maddox collection (mostly cool neutrals with a vibrant shade of terracotta). Maddox features two formats: a flat or framed 4-by-8-inch subway tile (for use on walls) and Deco, a semicircle in an 8-by-8-inch square (for use on walls or floors). Arrange them in any number of ways, in any combination of colors. The synergy this collection possesses makes any application greater than the sum of its parts.
