Not necessary - ended up using the drain mechanism that came with the high end Hansgrohe faucet. Item did not come with any kind of slip joint extension tube to connect with a P trap. Big box stores do not carry the connection piece but Ferguson Plumbing Supply could order it if I wanted to. Next time I just go online straight to Ferguson's to get Faucets.
