Quintessentially Morris, scrolling flowers and foliage cover this 100% cotton upholstery fabric design from 1883. Originally discharge printed at Merton Abbey, great care has been taken to maintain the marks, textures, and colors of the hand-block-printed fabric. It is printed alone and is suitable for blinds, cushions, drapes, and upholstery.

Blackthorn designed for wallpaper by J.H. Dearle in 1892 was first adapted for machine-printed fabric in 1975 by Sanderson. Now Blackthorn Weave depicts a richly woven design for indoors and out. The weave texture is intricate and piquing interest and plays with differing levels of color. The ribbed quality in the flowerheads adds texture to the blooms and variation between floral display and calming leaves. Rich archival colors meet softer hazy hues across three wonderous colorways.

Ben first fell in love with Merton after noticing it on a friend’s parents’ sofa more than 20 years ago. Designed by John Henry Dearle in 1905 it features an ogival repeat of stylized pomegranates and tulips surrounded by delicate flowers apples and scrolling acanthus leaves. 

Originally intended as a carpet design this pattern has been carefully refined retaining its distinctive shaping and introducing meandering elements into a soft ogee. Printed on a chunky natural hemp blend base cloth in an authentic palette tulip heads and acanthus leaves interlace typical of Morris's enigmatic hand.

For Morris, the tapestry was the highest form of decorative art. Inspired in part by J. H. Dearle’s The Brook Tapestry and the friezes that sit beneath the Holy Grail Tapestries, this digitally printed fabric design recreates the crispness and beautiful detail of medieval tapestries. One colorway is printed on cotton velvet and two on textured cloth reminiscent of original tapestry surfaces. Also available as a wide-width wallpaper.
