With the opening of Winterthur Museum in 1951, Henry Francis du Pont and his family moved to a regency-style villa built just across the lawn. He decorated his new house with English, French, and Italian antiques acquired early in his career as a collector. Many of those furnishings had filled the du Pont's Park Avenue apartment for the previous thirty years. One of their friends described the Park Avenue ambiance as very swagger, or elegant. Hickory Chair company's artists were inspired by an antique side table from H. F. du Pont's home the design of the 21st-century table.

In a classic, charming design with a nostalgic flair, the shaped American end table has scalloped legs and is finished in the time-worn white daisy over cathedral oak veneers. The finish represents the natural wear one might expect of pieces passed down through the family over time, revealing the rich oak character beneath. The table has a solid-wood edge top, one self-closing drawer with drawer interiors in the honey finish, one fixed shelf, and a metal alloy bar pulled in an antique bronze finish.

Very pleased with end tables. Color is not accurate with the photo. Anonymous. Wed Dec 31 2025
