This late 19 century Chinese altar table with everted ends features 4 pairs hand carved clouds spandrels on both front and back. The restoration to this antique table from countryside of Shanxi Province is kept to minimum intentionally. The original one slab top showing deep wood lines, cracks and aged natural wood color can only be created by passing of time. Solid construction, naturally aged wood showing age proper patinas, dents, knots, lines, spots, and wear and tears. A fine example of traditional Chinese joinery: every piece of wood is calculated to interlock in a seamless way to provide structural strength and enhances the beauty of the design. This rustic altar table with its original wood color, 4 pairs hand carved clouds spandrels, beautiful aged top, and everted ends will make an astonishing Asian console table in a living room, dining room, hall way or entryway.

This 19th century console table features a long, narrow silhouette with a minimalist, architectural profile, beautiful patina, and well aged texture. Covered in a rich, dark lacquer finish, the design features a flush rectangular top that transitions into square-section legs with cleanly angled corner spandrels. The open base is reinforced by a high-positioned longitudinal stretcher system connected by subtle, stepped humpback joinery on all sides. Its striking length, stable framework, and ultra-slim depth make it an ideal statement piece for large entryways, long hallways, or placement behind a sofa.
